An intelligence quotient (IQ) is a total score derived from a set of standardized tests designed to assess human intelligence. parameters such as inheritance, health at birth, nutrition, learning opportunities, and socio-economic indicators, have been studied as factors in higher or lower (IQ) level. Additionally, in recent years, the role of geographical location and climatic conditions have also been considered. However, the relationship between geological processes and IQ level is still unknown. The main goal of this study is to evaluate the environmental factors, especially that of geology, affecting students' IQ in Chakaneh, a small city in North East of Iran. In this study, students’ IQ was determined through Raven's Advanced Progressive Matrices Test. After confirming their high IQ, samples of water, soil, and rock were collected from the area. The results showed that the percentage of elements such as Phosphorus (P), Iron (Fe), Calcium (Ca), and Sodium (Na), which impact the nervous system and IQ, is high in rocks and water in this area. Some essential elements for the brain, like Zinc (Zn) and Selenium (Se), were also present in the collected samples. Lithium (Li) in its normal range causes mental peace, and excessive Li leads to confusion of thought. Concentration of Li showed to be normal in these samples. Elements such as Lead (Pb) and Arsenic (As) that result in lower IQ, had low concentration in the collected samples. Achieving these results reveal that geological and geochemical features, can affect IQ among other factors.
